Lead Institute may be considered the new kid on the block but already the three-year-old educational institution is creating waves and setting national records. Last week, local CXC registrar Catherine Daniel revealed that Netritia Henry, a Lead Institute student, had returned “the best [performance] that Dominica has received in its results for CAPE since it started”.
Henry secured two grade 1s in Business Management Unit 1 and Accounting Unit 1 and two grade 2s in Business Management Unit 2 and Economics Unit 1. Overall, the Institute also delivered the best performance in the CAPE exams Dominica has had to date.
The Institute secured an overall pass rate of 91% and 78% in Business Management Unit 2 and Unit 1 respectively, 83% passes in Caribbean Studies, 75% passes in Communication Studies, 67% passes in Accounting Unit 1and a 50% pass rate in Economics Unit 1. “Our performance across the board in the May/June 2012 CAPE exams represents an improvement over last year” says David Vital, Director of Lead Institute.
He attributes their ever-increasing improvements to the “hard work and steady application of students” and “the uncompromising commitment” of their tutors to educational excellence. “Student success is at the heart of everything we do at Lead Institute” he added.
Ultimately, Lead Institute’s goal says Vital, is to produce world-class students and leaders, not just students who excel at regional exams”. Currently, Lead Institute offers CXC Associate Degrees in Business Studies, Computer Science, Humanities, and General Studies.
