Graduating Leaders not Just Students who Excel at Exams

“You are in the right place and right programme. Now it’s up to you to apply yourselves, study hard and make us all proud.” That was what Lead Institute Director David Vital told freshman and returning students yesterday during orientation at the beginning of the 2011/2012 academic year. “Our goal is to graduate leaders, not just students who excel at exams” he added.

Vital assured the students that Lead Institute was totally committed to their success and would provide the necessary learning support to undergird them in the pursuit and achievement of their educational and career development goals. This begins he said, by offering students CXC/CAPE Associate Degree programmes that are fully accredited and articulated, internationally recognized and highly portable. “There is no Associate Degree programme being offered in Dominica today that can even come close to what we offer you here both in terms of educational quality and integrity and value for money” vital said.

Tuition for degree programmes currently being offered to Dominican students by resident, regional and extra-regional schools and colleges range between EC$6,000 and $17,000. At Lead Institute, tuition and fees are typically assessed at less than $6,000.00 per programme. Vital also highlighted the value of being taught by qualified teachers and tutors who are industry leaders and or possess significant work experience in their respective fields and disciplines.

“All our teachers have at least a first degree and most have worked or are working at supervisory and management level in their respective fields. Some of our faculty possess Masters Degrees and others terminal degrees” he told students. “At Lead Institute we bring our teacher training and years of professional experience to the CXC/CAPE programme to create an environment of educational excellence that gives you the opportunity to learn, acquire new skills and be prepared for positions of leadership” vital told students.
