Sociology does not simply describe how human social behavior is organized and how it changes. The discipline is a study of social interactions, social institutions, social patterns, and social change of human society guided by sociological theories and methods. If you are curious about how people get things done, then sociology is the discipline for you.
Sociology Learning Outcomes. You will:
- Gain an understanding of the discipline of sociology.
- Understand, evaluate, and use a variety of methods in sociology.
- Think critically about the social world and what separates sociology from other social science disciplines.
- Relate social customs and social interactions within specific groups.
- Understand structural underpinnings of inequality embedded in social institutions.
